Monday ROCK Groups

Theme - Holy Yoga
Facilitator: Deborah Silva

Background: I'm a Pentecostal Holiness preacher’s daughter. I was a youth leader and Choir Director of my dad's church growing up. Started Bible Collage courses early in life, I am a Registered Dental Assistant for 30 years and worked at Teen Challenge for 4 years and PRAISE GOD I've come out of legalism.

We can always grow & change when we realize God had a better plan, and we accept His ways of looking at each other.
Lew and Wendy Hansen have been married for 21 yrs. and have gone through this awesome training two times. Each time we get more out of it and are excited to offer it to others and help them strengthen and enrich their marriages as well.

Background: VivieAnn was raised in a dysfunctional home and has battled depression and bi-polar for many years. After coming to The Rock of Roseville 4 years ago and dedicating her life to Jesus she has found total healing from depression and a broken heart. She is a mother of two grown children, Chimere (whom she shares an apartment with) & Finis who lives in Virginia.
Hobbies: VivieAnn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, children and animals, reading, and serving at The Rock of Roseville.
Interesting Facts: VivieAnn's desire is to see hurt and broken people healed and to have victory in their lives by learning of and trusting their Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

Background: Larry and I are transplants from Alaska to Ca. via 4 years in Oregon.  Using radio to reach the lost and encourage the saints is our life mission. I was saved in the Jesus movement 7/70. I have known God to be faithful to His Word & He answers prayer. 
Hobbies: I like to travel and spend time with our grandkids.  I enjoy reading, gardening, painting walls and furniture refinishing.

Background: I have been a salesman just about all of my life.  However, about a year ago, at God's leading, I decided to take a leap of faith and change careers.  I am now a full-time student at Oral Roberts University, studying a major called 'Church Ministries' which is preparing me for the healing ministry.
Hobbies: I enjoy just about every kind of sport, especially skiing and doing just about anything in the mountains.

MBB is a fun and easy discussion time for couples who want to grow in their relationship.

Background: (Stephanie): Stephanie is part of the original team that helped pioneer The Rock. She and Kenny have been married 14 years. They have three children that each has a miracle story of their conception and birth.
(Joyce): Joyce became a Christian in 1969. Her first marriage ended in divorce when her youth pastor husband had several affairs. Alone, she turned to men, ended up pregnant and had an abortion. She married Bill after knowing him only four months. Bill had two daughters from his first marriage (who they had custody of) and they had a son. They struggled thru 15 years of marriage and nearly divorced when God rescued them. They have now been married for 30 years!
Vocation: Stephanie is the Women's Ministry Director, Special Events Childcare Coordinator, and Home Educator. Bill and Joyce are self employed, owners of House to Home Interiors, and part of School of Ministry.

Background :  Jon and Keli love small groups and families!  We’ve been doing small groups for many years and love to help folks get connected to our big happy family, the family of God. We’ve been at the Rock since 2002 and are deacons there.
Hobbies : Jon’s passion is for studying the Word and mentoring young people, helping them see the Lord’s perspective with great wisdom.  He’s been a wise husband for over 25 years and involved dad for nearly 20 years. Jon also loves to play basketball, work out and watch movies, especially ones with great life principles illustrated in them.Keli loves being a mom, wife & hospitable homemaker and loves to help the younger women learn God’s perspective on being wives and moms.  Making beauty whether in her art, home or garden is her passion, but she loves growing and nurturing people most of all.
Interesting Facts : Jon and Keli have 3 natural children: Chelsea 18, Juli 16 and Tyler 14, one adopted: Emily 19 and lots of spiritual children.  They all know sign language because 2 of their children are deaf.

Background :  Rob is married to the lovely Bonnie Gore and they have a wonderful son Jacob.  His entertainment career spans more than 25 years and includes theatre, television and films. He spent almost 5 years working with the Walt Disney Company and many years living in the Los Angeles area working in the Entertainment Industry. Rob loves to barbecue and is working on creating his own rib sauce this summer.

They are both musicians and love to worship God through music. They have been attending The Rock for one year and are looking to help Rock folks from Folsom and neighboring towns to connect.

Michelle Swagerty - Background: I was blessed to be raised by parents who loved me and the Lord. We were sent around the world by the Air Force until I was nineteen, when we returned to our home state of California. My husband Paul and I married in 2001 and came to The Rock in 2002, a few months before our first child was born. We now have four children (ages 5 years to 3 months) and an ever-deepening desire to pursue the knowledge of God Hobbies: Reading, taking walks, playing piano, board games, camping. Interesting Facts : Early in 2006, Michelle became desperate to learn how to pursue God wholeheartedly while being a wife and mommy. As the Lord began to answer her heart's cry, her desire grew to meet with other like-hearted moms. Thus was born Moms Pursuing God (aka "RHOP Moms"). Over the past year, longtime members Sarah and Ruth have stepped up to co-lead. We have been meeting nearly every Friday since May 2006, sharing our hearts, laughing, crying, praying, and forming lasting friendships. We would love for you to join us! Sarah Williams - Background:  I grew up in South Lake Tahoe until age 17 when I moved to Roseville to be a part of The Rock of Roseville's first Internship in 1999.  My husband John & I met during that year and were married in 2002.  We now have 2 children Olivia (age 2) and Peter (6 weeks). Hobbies: Reading, knitting, quality time with friends and family
Vocation: Stay at home Mom. I am learning to receive God's love and strength as I love and take care of my family.
Ruth Givens - Background:  I grew up in Marysville and ended up in Sacramento.  I married Jack in 1995, and we spent 10 ½ years in Germany.  We returned to Sacramento in 2006 and discovered The Rock and the Roseville House of Prayer. Currently I'm home-schooling our two children and "holding down the fort" while Jack is spending the year deployed to Baghdad.
Hobbies:  Alpine snow skiing, walking, biking, camping, swimming, and, when life slows down again, scrap booking.
Vocation: Homemaker and teacher.  My heart is that my biggest ministry in this season is to my husband and children.

Background : A fun group to get together and do adventurous things so we can socialize and create memories.  Most activities will be easy and not too strenuous.  Let's get together and have fun! Let me know if anything is of great interest.  So far we are thinking of hiking, biking, beaching at the American River or Folsom Lake, whitewater rafting, canoeing.  What else is in the area? Write me a note.

We love the Lord with all our hearts and want to learn all we can about Him each day with others. We look forward to this grand time of sharing God's word and Gaylord Enns book with family from the Rock.

Bill’s Background : Bill, the youngest of four, grew up in Los Gatos.  At 18 Bill was a father and soon married.  Two children later, divorced, he found his way back to an evangelical church and met JESUS in 1976!  Bill married Joyce in 1977.

Sunday ROCK Groups

Theme: "Row, Paddle, Sail and Worship"We have several small traditional boats; the only plastic one is Dorrie’s Tupperware kayak.  Bring a picnic dinner, beach/water toys, or bike. We’ll play with the boats, eat & worship. Bring the whole family & join us!

Background:   Dave is a kindergarten/music teacher at Dudley Elementary School in Antelope.  He comes from a long line of boat people, and is from Long Island, NY.  He is known in his neighbor hood as, “the crazy boat guy”.   He loves his Taylor guitar as much as his boats and he has been a passionate worship leader for “a really long time”. Dorrie is a saint because she has put up with Dave for 31 years!  She works for USAA Insurance and is “Super Mom” to Rachel and Becka. Location: Maidu Park, 1550 Maidu Drive in Roseville (Park anywhere but walk to the covered picnic areas in the middle of the baseball diamonds)
Background: Grant and Becca met and married in small group/Children's Ministry at The Rock and are approaching our 3rd anniversary.  We currently have about 20 kids (pretty good for 3 years), but we usually only see them on Sunday mornings in Rock Kids : )
Hobbies: We enjoy being outdoors whether it's yard work or hiking
Interesting Facts : We enjoy playing Norwegian golf.  Come and try it.
